Fort Lauderdale has become Florida's number one gay tourist destination. In addition, Sebastian Street Beach is one of the favorite local attractions for gay tourists and locals alike. It is logical, given its location, that Beach Place would attract the attention of the gay community. Beach Place is three levels of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs located between Las Olas Boulevard and Sebastian Street Beach, which offers live entertainment and Wednesday night movies in their open-air tropical courtyard.

Visitors will find a variety of food available at Beach Place's restaurants. Cafe Iguana serves contemporary American fare with a south of the border flair; it has also been voted best dance club in Broward County. Cheeburger Cheeburger offers casual 50's diner food. Fat Tuesday is part of the national daiquiri chain with a huge selection of frozen cocktails served with sandwiches and salads. Lulu's Bait Shack serves up Cajun theme food, including alligator, crawfish, and gumbo. Of course, their "fish bowl" drinks may reel you in.

Max's Oceanfront is an American bistro concentrating on locally caught seafood. House specials include cashew crusted salmon, diver scallops alla vodka and miso glazed sea bass. Sally O'Brien's is an Irish pub serving Irish specialties like smoked salmon, potato soup, lamb stew, fish and chips and shepherd's pie along with sandwiches, salads and other dishes influenced by local cuisine. O'Brien's also features live Irish music nightly. Euro Caffe is the sister restaurant of Cafe Europa, the renowned Italian restaurant in Las Olas. In addition, for that decadent dessert splurge, there is the Haagen Daz ice cream place.

This is also a great place to shop, even if you are just window-shopping to cool off from the beach. Biker's Image is a complete store to accessorize the every day biker, offering Harley-Davidson merchandise, t-shirts, jackets, accessories and all types of souvenirs. Eclectia outfits men and women with trendy clothes and accessories. Maui Nix Surf Shop is the largest surf shop in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Ritchie Swimwear sells its namesake designer swimwear that is frequently featured in the Sports Illustrated swimwear issue. Tropical Cigars sells over 100 brands and styles of cigars from around the world. So come check out Beach Place for fun, shopping and dining and some prime people watching.
